We kicked off our summer by headlining the Ladies Who Rock 4 A Cause’ Inaugural Music Festival 2018 on June 9th, and then performing along internally known artists for two performances at Firefly Music Festival June 16th and 17th. Our band and our crew stuck around to enjoy all the festival fare. The performances were great… and the festival was amazing so much fun! The summer was off to a good start!
The joy of pouring out our musical souls was tempered though, with the sudden and tragic loss of our fearless leader’s cousin CJ. He was only 29 and suddenly gone on June 12th after having survived (along with his sister, wife and daughter) a house fire where they lost everything but their lives miraculously. This loss hearkened back to Sharon’s loss of her only sister Nikki years ago who was only 26. Why these two first cousins became angels so young is really a mystery and a burden for one family to endure. Sharon’s cousin would want her to go on though, and so we did, but it was bittersweet. Nikki’s birthday falls on June 17th and so, we kissed our performances up to heaven for both of them (see photo of our drummers drums*)
Ladybug Music Festival was next and we were stoked about it until Sharon had an accident and suffered a broken right wrist, extensive damage to the tendons and a Mild TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) which she is still not healed from. We had to cancel all our tours and performances for the summer and into the fall and who knows how much longer….
Our focus for the time being is nursing Sharon back to health, and finishing up the final touches on a song that we finished recording before the summer started …and…. waiting to party when Sharon and Rick (our guitarist) get married on 11/11/18. It is a true love story…. please stay tuned.
